June 2005: Brought a Inspiron 510m laptop.
January 2006: Needed to reformat for various reasons and the recovery discs I made when I first got it didn’t work.
August 2006: Thrips invaded the screen. Dell’s warranty didn’t cover it.
August 2006: The sticker with the serial number bar code on the bottom has been worn away to the point where it’s illegible
July 2007: Hard drive becomes phycially corrupt.
August 2007: Hard drive dies.
Late 2007: Plastic covering on the metal panels on the bottom starts to rub off whenever moved.
March 2007: Right lid hinge snaps
July 2008: Backlight starts to stop working.
Just don’t buy a dell.

Actually, the lifespan of a laptop is about 3 years, so it seems that yours lasted as long as it should have..Well, yours lasted about 2. I would have scrapped the whole thing when the hard drive died.
