Is anyone else really getting fed up of the constant crap from trolls and other idiots on the forums? Where are the mods?
I’ve been seeing a lot of people posting trollbait. Things like “all sins are KSers” or “more NX only maps”. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all up for debate but I don’t believe that anyone can agrue with sincerity either of those two points. What’s worse is that fact that these posts are lasting for hours at a time. I understand the mods can’t instantly delete things as soon as they see them, but for a thread to last for 10+ pages, as I’ve seen quite a few times is a problem.
Sadly, it’s hard to say the majority of Basil’s users are the most mature or, dare I say, intelligent. When I see a trolling post I do my best to just ignore it. I do not feed the trolls. I can hardly say the same for a lot of posters on Basil. In my opinion, banning the trolls before the masses react is the easier way to solve the trolling problems on the forums.

although its been a while since ive been on basil. I think that I might make a good mod, but i have other commitments since next year is my last year in highschool and I want to get it just right.

No mod should tolerate a troll.
Even if it’s “don’t feed the troll”.
Rule #7 clearly says NOT to troll.
And i really wonder why some Mods just go “don’t feed the troll guys” or something.
It’s their resposibility to keep the forums clean from them.
Just my opinion.

I just think we need more active mods, who can be more dispassionate about being a mod and uninvolved with certain users (if you get what I’m trying to say here). I think, as of right now, the mods aren’t doing a great job, and seemingly unfair or biased suspensions just fuel the fire.

We just need mods with some incentive to do what they’re supposed to..It would be up to mrbasil to decide on this, but I find that there are some mods that are lazy and apathetic. There are quite a few mods I don’t even see post. Talk about feeling distanced. Nobody should moderate a forum if they don’t even post in it. But I see your posts the most Vusys.

well a mod can only ban if a person CLEARLY goes again one of the rules. Many trolls are smart enough to flame bait in a n innocent seming manner that doesn’t seem to go against anything. snarkymark is a perfect example

Well, the problem is that there are just mods who clearly show favoritism. I actually got suspended for supposedly attacking Isilie, even though the things she was saying to others and back to me were just as suspension-worthy. It’s ridiculous.

In all seriousness I enjoyed SnarkyMark. The majority of posters who treated him seriously need to go to school, and possibly increase their intelligence. According to basil, once someone is an idiot, you must *deal* with that idiocy and respond in a tolerable fashion. Fuck that.
